The ePlane Company and Noida International Airport sign a pact to develop infrastructure for air taxi operations, including vertiports and regulatory SOPs for e200X aircraft.
Key Points
- The ePlane Company and Noida International Airport have partnered to develop infrastructure for air taxi operations.
- The agreement focuses on establishing regulatory SOPs, vertiport systems, and an operational ecosystem for ePlane's e200X aircraft.
- Noida Airport will allocate space for trials, vertiports, and charging stations, adapting its operations for eVTOL services.
- This collaboration aims to enable emission-free air transit for passengers and emergency services, bypassing urban gridlock.
Mumbai, Oct 8 (PTI) Ubifly Technologies Pvt Ltd, which operates as The ePlane Company, on Thursday said it has signed an initial pact with Noida International Airport to develop infrastructure for air taxi operations.
The agreement sets up a comprehensive framework to co-develop the regulatory SOPs, vertiport management systems, and operational ecosystem specifically required to deploy ePlane's flagship e200X aircraft, it said.
This infrastructure partnership complements key engineering progress following the recent public unveiling of the full-scale electric air taxi e200X PT-01 prototype, the company said.
This collaboration paves the way for e200X-powered airport-to-airport transit, intra-city commutes, and emergency air ambulance services across the region, The ePlane company said.
With ground testing (for the prototype air taxi) currently underway, the Memorandum of Understanding ensures that the physical development of the aircraft is met with parallel advancements in ground operations and airspace integration, it said.
"Deploying electric air taxis requires more than just building the aircraft; it demands the parallel development of ground infrastructure, regulatory frameworks, and operational procedures," said Satyanarayanan Chakravarthy, Founder and Director of Ubifly Technologies (The ePlane Company).
"This MoU with Noida International Airport allows us to systematically validate our operational models using drone trials before transitioning to piloted e200X flights," he said.
It is a pragmatic, step-by-step approach to ensuring that when aircraft are certified, the airport ecosystem is fully equipped to deliver on our core promise: bypassing urban gridlock and compressing hours of road travel into minutes of safe, emission-free transit for both passengers and critical medical care, he added.
To facilitate these operations, YIAPL ( Yamuna International Airport Ltd) will allocate space within the airport premises for proof-of-concept trials, vertiports, and charging stations, while aligning its airport SOPs to accommodate eVTOL ( electric vertical take off and landing) services, the company said.
"Noida International Airport's long-term vision is closely linked with bringing innovative, future-ready infrastructure to the region. Integrating Advanced Air Mobility into our airport framework is an important part of our commitment to seamless, multi-modal connectivity. We have collaborated with The ePlane Company on developing the ground infrastructure and operational SOPs required to deliver safe, zero-emission air transit and vital emergency services to Delhi-NCR," said Daniel Bircher, Chairman, Noida International Airport.
The ePlane Company said it will focus on securing necessary clearances from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation and the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security while executing the prototyping and flight testing of the e200X aircraft.
The two entities will engage with regulators, Air Traffic Control (ATC), and state governments for safety frameworks, vertiport management systems, and AI-assisted fleet scheduling integrated with smart city systems, it stated.
