ARK Invest, led by Cathie Wood, sold 54,873 shares of SpaceX worth approximately $9.4 million on Tuesday through its ARK Next Generation Internet ETF, while deploying capital across AI infrastructure, biotech, and aerospace names. The firm's largest purchase was $18.6 million in Veracyte, followed by $12.1 million in Archer Aviation, $9.2 million in Amazon, $9 million in CoreWeave, and $8 million in Meta Platforms. The SpaceX sale came amid reports that the company plans to raise $40 billion to buy Nvidia AI chips, with Apollo Global Management leading the financing. ARK also reduced its Teradyne position by approximately $27.4 million and sold $7.2 million in Robinhood shares. Wall Street analysts maintain a Strong Buy consensus on SpaceX with an average price target of $215.29, implying roughly 25% upside.

Cathie Wood's ARK Invest Dumps $9.4 Million in SpaceX, Rotates Into AI and Air Taxis

Cathie Wood's ARK Invest executed a significant portfolio rotation on Tuesday, selling off a portion of its SpaceX stake while deploying tens of millions of dollars into AI infrastructure, consumer platforms, and next-generation aerospace companies.

The firm sold 54,873 shares of Space Exploration Technologies Corp. (SPCX) through the ARK Next Generation Internet ETF (ARKW), a position worth approximately $9.4 million based on the stock's closing price of $171.92. The divestiture came alongside a much larger reduction in Teradyne Inc. (TER), where ARK unloaded 61,547 shares valued at roughly $27.4 million.

On the buy side, Wood's team spread capital across a diverse set of names. The largest single allocation went to Veracyte Inc. (VCYT), with the ARK Genomic Revolution ETF (ARKG) purchasing 389,509 shares for about $18.6 million. Archer Aviation Inc. (ACHR) received approximately $12.1 million across three ARK funds, while Amazon.com Inc. (AMZN), CoreWeave Inc. (CRWV), and Meta Platforms Inc. (META) each attracted between $8 million and $9.2 million in fresh capital.

The trades reflect ARK's ongoing conviction in artificial intelligence as a multi-year investment theme, even as the firm trims positions in companies that have already delivered substantial gains.

The SpaceX Exit and Its Timing

The SpaceX sale represents a notable reversal from ARK's recent behavior. Just a week earlier, the firm had purchased 9,112 SpaceX shares worth about $1.3 million, a buy that came one day after the company's Starship rocket reached orbit for the first time. The latest sale does not necessarily signal a fundamental shift in Wood's view of Elon Musk's space venture, but it does show ARK actively managing position sizes in a stock that has climbed 6.8% since its June IPO.

The divestiture coincided with reports that SpaceX plans to raise $40 billion to purchase AI chips from Nvidia Corp. (NVDA). The financing effort, first reported by the Financial Times, would reportedly involve about $10 billion in bank loans and $30 billion in investment-grade debt, with Apollo Global Management (APO) leading the arrangement. The capital raise has drawn attention to SpaceX's escalating spending on AI infrastructure, a factor that may be giving some investors pause.

Wall Street analysts remain broadly bullish on SpaceX. Goldman Sachs analyst Eric Sheridan raised his price target to $230 from $220 while maintaining a Buy rating, citing increased estimates for the company's AI capacity and improving revenue and margin forecasts. Morgan Stanley's Adam Jonas maintained an Overweight rating with a $300 target, arguing that SpaceX looks "cheap and getting cheaper" when growth is factored in.

The consensus view on SpaceX remains firmly positive, with 27 Buy ratings, four Holds, and two Sells over the past three months. The average price target of $215.29 implies roughly 25% upside from current levels.

Rotating Into AI Infrastructure

ARK's purchases on Tuesday concentrated heavily on companies positioned to benefit from the AI buildout. The firm added 36,050 Amazon shares through ARKW, a position worth about $9.2 million. Amazon has emerged as one of the largest corporate spenders in AI infrastructure, having raised its 2026 capital expenditure guidance to approximately $220 billion.

Tigress Financial Partners analyst Ivan Feinseth reiterated a Buy rating on Amazon with a $385 price target, arguing that the company's AI investments are translating into accelerating AWS growth, higher advertising revenue, and expanding operating margins. He pointed to agentic commerce, faster delivery, and live sports as additional growth drivers.

CoreWeave attracted approximately $9 million in ARK capital, with purchases split between the ARK Innovation ETF (ARKK) and ARKW. The specialized AI cloud provider has been gaining analyst attention following its Fully Connected AI conference, where it highlighted the production launch of Nvidia's Vera Rubin NVL72 platform. Cantor Fitzgerald analyst Brett Knoblauch noted that Cognition became the first customer to run production workloads on the new system, achieving up to 4.8 times higher token throughput than Nvidia's GB200 NVL72. He maintained an Overweight rating with a $176 price target.

Meta received $8 million in combined purchases through ARKF and ARKW, totaling 10,789 shares. The social media giant closed Tuesday at $738.88, down 0.41%. ARK's interest in Meta comes as early enthusiasm builds around the company's Muse AI agent, which could unlock new advertising opportunities if it attracts a large user base. Meta's average analyst price target of $806.13 suggests about 9% upside.

Betting on Air Taxis and Biotech

Archer Aviation was one of ARK's most aggressive buys, with 2,566,731 shares purchased across ARKK, ARKQ, and ARKX for approximately $12.1 million. The electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) company is moving its Midnight aircraft toward commercial operations, having recently completed a 40-mile piloted flight between Salinas and Hollister, California.

Archer is also expanding beyond passenger transport. The company plans to acquire Boeing's Wisk Aero, Insitu, and SkyGrid businesses, a deal that would add autonomous aircraft, defense drones, and airspace technology to its portfolio. Insitu alone generates more than $200 million in annual revenue.

The stock carries substantial risk, however. Archer reported only $5 million in second-quarter revenue against $284 million in operating expenses, and shares are down more than 38% year-to-date. Despite this, analysts maintain a Strong Buy consensus with an average price target of $11.60, implying roughly 149% upside.

ARK's Veracyte purchase through ARKG was the firm's largest single-stock buy of the day at approximately $18.6 million, signaling continued conviction in genomic diagnostics alongside the AI-heavy trades.

Broader Portfolio Adjustments

Beyond the headline moves, ARK made several smaller adjustments. The firm sold 63,466 shares of Robinhood Markets Inc. (HOOD) for about $7.2 million, trimming exposure to the retail brokerage. ARK also sold 196,727 shares of DraftKings Inc. (DKNG) while purchasing 425,784 shares of Genius Sports Ltd. (GENI), and added 753,330 shares of Joby Aviation Inc. (JOBY).

The trades occurred against a backdrop of market strength, with both the S&P 500 and Nasdaq closing at record highs on Tuesday. Technology and semiconductor stocks were among the leading sectors.

For investors tracking Wood's strategy, the message appears consistent: AI remains the dominant theme, but the implementation is broadening. Rather than concentrating in a handful of mega-cap winners, ARK is spreading bets across AI infrastructure, specialized cloud providers, consumer applications, warehouse automation, and next-generation transport. The SpaceX trim, meanwhile, suggests that even high-conviction positions are subject to active management when valuations and capital-raising plans shift the risk-reward calculus.
